This point in an adolescent’s life typically marks the time of transition from childhood to adulthood and can be a challenge for all involved!  While it is important to encourage our students to explore the world around them and allow for more responsibility and privileges, it is also crucial to offer a supportive environment with all the resources available to promote healthy physical, intellectual, and emotional development.  Our program for grades 9-12 is designed to offer those resources and the education that will broaden a student’s awareness and knowledge of mental health and available coping skills.  Below is a list of the topics our high school seminar includes, which is based on the most common mental health needs and concerns of this age group as shown through research and the professional experiences of our team’s licensed counselors:

  • Mental health defined
  • Depression
  • Anxiety
  • Bipolar disorder
  • Self-harm
  • Transition difficulties (grief, milestones, self-esteem, LGBTQ, etc.)
  • Treatment options and resources
  • Suicide awareness and prevention
  • Coping skills, resiliency, positive psychology and mindfulness
